Harford students had the opportunity to travel with HCC’s Office of Student Life to New York City in celebration of African American culture.

The “Shakespeare Steps,” seen in the 2019 Todd Phillips film “Joker,” serves as a popular attraction for stunning photos.

Inside the African Burial Ground Memorial, this wax display portrays a moment a family was forced to bury two family members lost to disease.

Students got to witness some beautiful buildings in New York including the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harlem.

“Hush Hip-Hop Tours” provided students with a tour of the Bronx, Harlem, Manhattan, and the African Burial Ground Memorial.

This predominantly Puerto Rican and Dominican neighborhood in East Bronx, features a mosaic of Nuyorican creative writer Nicholasa Mohr.

The Apollo Theatre, established in Harlem in 1913, makes for a beautiful photo while also representing a significant historic importance during the rise of jazz, swing, and other music.
