Meet Owl Media’s Sports Reporter, Logan Riley.

Are you a student who loves sports? Does going to the game and rooting for the home team lift your spirits? Well, you’re not alone. Meet Logan Riley, a student at Harford Community College who’s currently taking the role of Owl Media’s sportswriter.

“…I’m an avid reader,” Riley began. “Although my experience in working with Owl Media is low, I’m more than happy to learn in order to gain an understanding of the publication. I believe that the more knowledge I take in the more I can grow as a journalist and sportswriter.”

Riley enjoys sportswriting the most. He’s been reading sports magazines for a long time and once he found out Owl Media published sports stories both in the present and past, he became intrigued with the publication, wanting to join immediately.

“That’s another reason why I took the role as Owl Media’s sports writer. My position helps me spread the truth.”

“Publishing sports magazines for a living has always been a dream of mine,” Riley states. “I love keeping track of the team scores as well as getting to read the interviews, so knowing that Owl Media can help me achieve that career goal through practice and hands on experience is a thrilling feeling for me.”

Truth is an important element in media, and sports are no different. Getting the facts and putting them out is required for accurate storytelling.

“…There’s a lot of over-exaggeration in the sports world.” Riley states. “From scores to athlete abilities, there’s just so much misinformation out there and as someone who’s trying to get into sports writing it just frustrates me so much. That’s another reason why I took the role as Owl Media’s sports writer. My position helps me spread the truth.”

As Riley continues his role as the publication’s sports writer, he hopes to inspire others to join Owl Media and to take a look at sports journalism.
