Meet Owl staffer, Kai O-Brien.

As he pulls in his chair at the computer ready to work, Kai O’Brien closes his eyes and pictures himself on TV, talking to an engaged audience on important topics.

Kai O’Brien is a Mass Communications major and member of Owl Media’s staff. He is using both of these opportunities to receive insight and knowledge for his future career of being a talk show host.

O’Brien is looking forward to digging deeper into community and socioeconomic issues, which are not always discussed in the media.

“[The class] is definitely different because I thought it was going to be more of a newspaper, but I like that it’s more interactive and online.”

“[Journalism] gets down deep on what’s happening, looks under the line,” O’Brien says.

He is using his time in Owl Media to enhance his skills for his future career in mass communications. He also is using it to understand what a professional news publication environment might feel like.

O’Brien explains “[the class] is definitely different because I thought it was going to be more of a newspaper, but I like that it’s more interactive and online.”

O’Brien shows great enthusiasm in his work for Owl Media and hopes to use this experience in a 4-year college and his future career. His excellent work ethic, determination, and experiences with Owl Media have put him on the path of fulfilling his career goals.
