What an interesting year it has been at Owl Media. From playing a supporting role in the fall semester, to being given an opportunity in the spring semester to become an intern and having a bigger role with production.

I began this journey in my senior year at Bel Air High School when my journalism teacher gave me some advice that sparked my interest in the journalism world.

All the knowledge I had for journalism was very little because I only had one journalism class in high school, but it interested me so much to where I wanted to take it further and pursue a journalism major.

“I met an amazing group of people who were also passionate for wanting to create their story or wanting their voices being heard, and I encourage anybody who wants to create their story or have their voice heard to join Owl Media.”

My interest at first was in sports journalism, but after my time with Owl Media and being an intern for them I got a learning experience that I am very glad happened.

I went from only knowing the sports journalism aspect, to learning much more material such as video editing, interviewing, article formatting and so much more. I could not be more thankful for my time with Owl Media.

I met an amazing group of people who were also passionate for wanting to create their story or wanting their voices being heard, and I encourage anybody who wants to create their story or have their voice heard to join Owl Media.

Owl Media accepts anybody no matter what your major is, they will welcome you into open arms just like they did with me.

I don’t regret taking a chance at wanting to explore the journalism world and being an intern for Owl Media because I got to travel to places I never thought I would, such as New York City. I learned so much there, including more about photography, which is now one of my interests.

Javier Benjamin, Colin Lowry, Kalise Huber, Brooklynn Brown, and Ann Mervin enjoyed a club dinner at the “Mason Jar” restaurant in New York City.

I am grateful that Professor Brown gave me a chance to be an intern with Owl Media because I would’ve never learned the things I learned and met the amazing group of people that she built over the years. Being a part of it was something I will never forget. I will take every piece of advice I have been given to heart as I move on into my professional career.
