Meet Owl Staffer Dave Walker!

Dave Walker has always known where his passion lies—in the world of sports broadcasting. From the time he was in high school, Walker was captivated by the rhythm of sports commentary and the thrill of the game.

“I’ve always been a good writer,” Walker shares, reflecting on the early days when he honed his skills by crafting compelling sports articles. “Watching the Orioles growing up… really got my love for it.”

Walker’s journey took off in college when he started as a radio station intern during his freshman year.

“The first day here, I got involved in radio,” he says, recalling how he approached a professor who pointed him toward the school’s radio station.

He soon found himself hosting his own show, diving into the world of audio and video media. By the spring, he was calling games for the lacrosse team—a thrill he hopes to relive in the future.

“I’m looking to really improve my writing… just kind of round myself out as a journalist.”

While Walker has already made strides in broadcasting, he is now focusing on rounding out his skills by mastering the written form of journalism. His current internship allows him to explore this area, crafting promotional liners for a radio station and developing a versatile portfolio.

“I’m looking to really improve my writing… just kind of round myself out as a journalist,” he explains.

As Walker eyes the future, his goal is clear: a career in sports media, ideally with a professional team like the Orioles, or a college team.

“If I can be in sports media in any capacity, that’d be fantastic,” he says.

For Walker, the dream is not just about the job—it is about loving what he does every day.
