Meet Owl Media’s Interim Chief Advisor, Brianna Skrivanek!
Hi! I’m Brianna Skrivanek, Owl Media’s Interim Chief Advisor.
I first got involved with HCC’s student publication, formerly known as Owl Magazine, in 2018. It wasn’t until my internship in early 2020 that I fully joined the staff and shortly after took on the role of Social Media Editor.
After graduating, I remained on staff, working remotely as Social Media Editor and in January of 2023, took on the role of Technical Advisor. During this time, I’ve had the opportunity to learn and grow in my leadership skills, connect with and mentor student staffers, and work within an amazing Advisory Staff.
In addition to gaining these lasting connections and media skills, my experience with Owl Media helped me land a social media and marketing internship! My only regret working with Owl Media was not getting involved with the publication sooner during my student years at HCC.
With this being a fresh semester, I’d like to extend an open invitation to our students to join the Owl staff. Not only can you gain lasting connections and attend trips funded by the Journalism Club, but you get hands-on experience in the field of journalism using an open and honest perspective that looks amazing on any CV!
