Article by Nick DeMent | Owl Staff

Around ten years ago, I walked into the Joppa building on HCC’s campus for the first time. Like many other students, I was unsure of the road I should take in my academic ventures.

Writing had always been something I was interested in, so I eventually settled on an English major, but that didn’t stop me from getting my fair share of journalistic academia as well. All my electives were devoted to journalism classes, which is how I found myself walking through the now so familiar hallways of that cradle of student-fueled journalism.

I have worked with more students than I can recall, both as a student myself, and as an employee. I have developed relationships and friendships through Owl Magazine that have endured for years, and hopefully continue to do so.

It is my pleasure and honor to return to HCC as the nascent Owl Media’s Editor in Chief. Online media is the future of journalism, and I have nothing but the greatest of hopes for this student created publication that I have come to love and cherish.

I look forward to meeting all of you and working with you on creating the best content you can create. I will strive to be worthy of all your time and efforts. Hoot hoot!
