As the president of Owl Media’s journalism club, I want to welcome all students coming back to Harford Community College’s campus this winter. This is my second year as a student at Harford and I want to share some highlights with all of you.
One thing that really stands out as a highlight from these past two years are all of the trips I have taken with the journalism club.
My favorite trip we have taken as a club was in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lucky for us, our trip fell on the weekend of Halloween so we got to experience the night life of New Orleans on that spooky day.
On Halloween night, us students were allowed to explore Bourbon Street and take photos for our club. The trip was an incredibly educating and fulfilling experience that I will remember for years to come.
One of my other favorite trips with Owl Media’s journalism club was our trip to Miami, Florida. This was a great experience and we stayed in a beautiful hotel with a great view of the Miami City.
During this trip we went to many educational conferences on digital and social media. We also made some short informational videos on Miami life.
I highly encourage every student to check out our Journalism club as it is a great opportunity for all majors. My major is currently general studies and I have learned so many skills I can take with me with any career. Check out our website and our social media for stories, and reach out to us for ideas.
I know it can be challenging juggling classes with work, home life, etc, but the fact that you are here reading this and attending classes is something each and every one of you should feel proud of.
