Owl Media staff celebrates Brianna’s last day as Technical Advisor.
At a two-year college, it can sometimes be challenging for a media publication to find staff members amidst the monumental task of balancing exams, work, studying, and social life that most students face on a daily basis. Brianna Skrivanek proved to be one of those exceptional students whose work with Owl Media across the years has proven invaluable.
Skrivanek began her time at Owl Media as a part of Harford Community College’s Journalism and New Media Program, where she worked as an intern for the publication during her last semester in 2020 just before the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the next few years, Skrivanek would occasionally assist Owl Media with social media posts.
After working at Staples for some time, Skrivanek returned to Owl Media in January 2023 as a technical advisor, where she would prove instrumental in the transitional period from magazine to online website. In August, Skrivanek took up the position of interim Chief Advisor until April of 2024.
Following nearly two years of continuous work at Owl Media, Skrivanek officially parted from the publication in November. The website she helped create won third place for “Website of the Year” at the 2023-2024 Pinnacle Awards and third place for “Best Feature Website” at the 2025 Apple Awards.
Skrivanek’s time at Owl Media as both a student and staff member helped to grow the publication and contributed greatly to the 55 awards now held by the group.
From all current staff, club members, and Owl Media alumni-
Thank you, Brianna Skrivanek!
