The American Flag is a reminder of the importance of voting on Election Day.
Owl Media took to the streets of Harford Community College, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Main Street, Bel Air to hear thoughts on the upcoming Presidential Election. We interviewed students and employees from our college campus, then interviewed the public to ask them one question. Who they were voting for, and why.
Owl Media first spoke with HCC students to hear their opinions on who they were voting for in the 2024 elections.
Psychology major Lauren Sawyer provided us with insight. “I am voting for Kamala Harris because I stand for her views when it comes to the Affordable Care Act.”
As Owl Media continued further with our interviews, it was noticed that the majority of the voters on the college campus interviewed were leaning towards voting for Kamala Harris.
Collin Knuckey, an HCC Alum stated, “This election, I’m going to be voting for Kamala because as somebody who is gay openly, I worry about the project 2025 that’s been swirling around the internet.”
However, there were a few Trump supporters that we interviewed on campus. Cybersecurity student, Donald Ewing was one of those supporters, providing his insight on why he was voting for Donald Trump.
“Under the Donald Trump administration, the United States was at its peak economical state. We had no wars that we were in. Gas was at an all-time low. Trump was running the borders really well, not letting in millions of illegal immigrants like the Biden administration,” stated Ewing.
As Owl Media continued interviews outside the bounds of Harford Community College, it was noticed more of the interviews with the public showed a bigger influx of Trump supporters, or those who have remained undecided on who they wish to vote for. To get ourselves a broader perspective to see who people were voting for and why, Owl Media took to the streets of Washington D.C., our nation’s capital, to hear opinions on the upcoming election.
Richard & Billie Imus, locals from Washington state who were visiting Washington D.C., stated their reasons for voting for Donald Trump. “He stands for family values and he protects the unborn,” stated Billie Imus.
Nilanoan Haldar, a local from Philadelphia, gave us his reasoning for remaining undecided for this year. “My process is really to kind of try and circumvent any kind of propaganda or media. I do my own independent research a couple weeks prior to the election.”
Lastly, Owl Media moved to Main Street, Bel Air to see if the political opinions would show any kind of change. From the interviews that conducted, it was noticed a large majority agreed that they were voting for Donald Trump for this year.
Kendra & Kora Troll, both locals from Bel Air, shared that they were voting for Donald Trump because of what happened to Rachel Morin. “I actually knew, personally, Rachel Morin that passed on the trail,” Kora Troll stated. “Hearing that she died, and got stabbed and raped from an illegal immigrant actually really hit me hard. Because, knowing her personally, it was very traumatic.”
