Owl Media’s new Editor-in-Chief, Brendan Flanagan.
From an early age, Brendan Flanagan wanted to entertain. He started a YouTube channel in 2012, which is still running today! Going into college at HCC, Flanagan wasn’t sure which path he wanted to take. It took some time, but he eventually decided on majoring in Mass Communications, which led to his involvement with Owl Media in Spring 2023.
Having started out as an intern, he focused mainly on video editing and learning how to apply those skills to a professional field.
“I met a bunch of great people,” Flanagan says. “It was a welcoming and fun place to be, and I’m glad I got the opportunity.”
Only being with the publication for four months, his contributions to the publication have earned Flanagan the role of Editor-in-Chief. As the new Editor, Flanagan looks forward to focusing more on his video editing skills and working with fellow Owl staff members. His goals for the publication are simple: to put out more content for Owl Media.
“I met a bunch of great people… It was a welcoming and fun place to be, and I’m glad I got the opportunity.”
When asked what this role means to him, Flanagan says, “Well, I haven’t been with the publication long, but I think the fact that I’ve been promoted so quickly is a testament to my own ability and talent, something I have severely doubted for years. It’s a nice feeling to prove myself wrong in a good way like that.”
After HCC, Flanagan is attending Towson University to study Electronic Media & Film. Flanagan says he is just getting started and is excited to see where this journey with Owl Media and life takes him.
